Abbie Sawyer
Abbie Sawyer is a singer-songwriter and performer who uncovers meaning and beauty with her heartfelt lyrics, “unforgettable voice” (Little Village Magazine), and “stunningly intimate” sound (dsm Magazine).
Abbie started performing at age 6, when she sang her first solo, “I am a Promise,” at her family’s church. After a childhood full of choirs and theater performances, Abbie joined her first band in 2006 with whom she began recording and toured Italy and France. In 2008, she started playing guitar, writing her first songs. In 2009, Abbie formed her own group Abbie & the Sawyers, as well as joining another band, recording and releasing albums with both groups.
When she landed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 2013, she joined NOLA Jazz Band and began performing consistently around the Midwest.
Rooted in Des Moines, Iowa, her current projects include Abbie Sawyer & the Flood, Abbie & the Sawyers, Diplomats of Solid Sound and NOLA Jazz Band. Abbie has opened for Lake Street Dive, Rufus Wainwright, and Fitz and the Tantrums. Her projects have had 30+ million streams on Spotify.
