Scott Davis

Although Scott Davis’ musical roots and passion are in jazz, this Des Moines-based trumpet player any type of music from classical, to jazz, to blues and more.  Scott joined the NOLA Jazz Band at the start of it’s 4 ½ year run at the Des Moines Social Club and has been with us ever since.

Scott Davis is a member of the Des Moines Musician’s Association. A Des Moines native, he received his undergraduate degree in Education from the University of Northern Iowa, and a Master’s in performance and education at Drake University. Scott has also been inducted into both the Iowa Community Jazz Center Hall of Fame, and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Scott is “retired” from teaching in the Des Moines Schools, but still keeps active teaching at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and leads their jazz ensemble there.  He also volunteers helping out Des Moines instrumental teachers with their students, and is very active playing in many groups in Des Moines, including his own trio as well as the NOLA Jazz Band. In 2022-2023 Scott also served as interm head of the instrumental music department at Grand View University.
